Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management at the training package level. However, to ensure learners are prepared for the demands of the course, the RTO may apply its own admission requirements, which typically include:

  • Completion of SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • A minimum age of 18 years.
  • Evidence of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS, PTE, TOEFL) for international students.
  • Evidence of vocational competence in relevant cookery or kitchen operations.

Note: All applicants must complete the Pre-Training Review and may be required to undergo an LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy) test as part of the admission process.

Note: IELTS or equivalent results older than two years are not accepted for offshore applicants.

OR

  1. Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States

OR

  1. Evidence that, within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or successfully completed substantial components (50% or more units according to the training package) IV qualification or higher level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework on a student visa.

OR

  1. Applicants originating from students visa assessment levels 1 and 2 countries without the required IELTS or equivalent score must undertake the Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) and Digital (D) literacy test. For further information on student visa assessment levels visit Department of Home Affairs’ website at www.homeaffairs.gov.au.

International Students (onshore and offshore) 

All international students are required to complete a Pre-Training Review, including an LLND assessment, to identify individual training needs. This process evaluates the learner’s previous education or training, relevant work experience, and the suitability and relevance of the course to their learning goals. This assessment may be conducted via video call or phone call for both onshore and offshore students.

Students are expected to invest an average of 4 hours per week for guided learning during training weeks, excluding term breaks.
