Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management at the training package level. However, to ensure learners are prepared for the demands of the course, the RTO may apply its own admission requirements, which typically include:

  • Completion of SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • A minimum age of 18 years.
  • Evidence of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS, PTE, TOEFL) for international students.
  • Evidence of vocational competence in relevant cookery or kitchen operations.

Note: All applicants must complete the Pre-Training Review and may be required to undergo an LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy) test as part of the admission process.

Note: IELTS or equivalent results older than two years are not accepted for offshore applicants.

Alternative English Language Evidence

Applicants may also demonstrate English language proficiency through the following:

  • Evidence of at least five years of education in English from an English-speaking country, such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
  • Evidence of completing a foundation course or senior secondary certificate of education in Australia, or successfully completing at least 50% of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level IV qualification or higher within two years of the application date.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Requirements

  • Onshore international students: Must complete a Pre-Training Review and LLND test to assess training needs, relevant prior education or experience, and course suitability.
  • Offshore international students: The Pre-Training Review and LLND test will be conducted via video call (e.g. Skype) or phone call.

Other Conditions

  • Students are expected to invest an average of 4 hours per week for guided learning during training weeks, excluding term breaks.
